Route description Mariazell im Wienerwald – Altenmarkt
Our hiking route starts at the “Klein-Mariazell Abzweigung” bus stop. From the bus stop, we will head north and follow the signs for the Klein-Mariazell Basilica, before turning right onto Leopoldpfad. We will follow the path, and head
to the basilica. We will bear right as we head to the basilica, passing the car park and following the signs for Via Sacra uphill. We will head along the panoramic circular route (right) and then past the Hüber-Kreuz and onto the red route towards Hafnerberg. After a short rest at the druid stones, we will follow Kreuzweg to the church on the Hafnerberg. From there, we will follow the signs for Neuhaus, until we pass the “Zum Kleinen Semmering” inn, and turn off down the first lane on the right. At the end of the lane, we will come to a forest path, which we will follow to the left and then straight downhill (red route). When we reach the main road in Nöstach, we will cross it and follow the signs to make our way to Altenmarkt an der Triesting.
