Laurenzikirche
Church
Description
The Romanesque Laurenzi Church stands in the scattered settlement of Haag near Markersdorf in the municipality of Neulengbach. The Roman Catholic daughter church dates back to the 12th century - and is considered quite legendary: Allegedly, St. Laurentius and the angels themselves chose the site for the place of worship. Today, the little church reveals many things worth seeing: such as the original round building made of ashlars, the choir added in the 15th century or the crenellated sacrament house. On the outside on the south side there is a walled-in Roman stone. By the way, the Laurenzi Church has also been immortalized in paintings by great artists such as Egon Schiele.
