Description
The 77 hectare nature park Purkersdorf lies on the western outskirts of Vienna - with Rudolfshöhe as the highest elevation (475 m). The beech woods form shady inventories: The climate is pleasantly cool especially in summer.
Although this is the smallest of the Wienerwald nature parks, the designated landscape conservation area in Purkersdorf offers a varied programme throughout the year: with the emphasis on the sensual experience of nature. In addition to festivals and volunteering activities, family hikes and workshops for children are hosted on regular basis and people with special needs are also closely involved. “Blind Date” is a 1 km-long nature trail with information boards in Braille and also in handwriting. The entrance to the Blind Date path is directly at the entrance to the nature park (near the P&R facility).
Shop window museum in the nature park
The Wienerwaldhaus in the Deutschwald is also located near the nature park centre: the "First Austrian self-service shop window museum". It gives an insight into the living quarters of the Wienerwald farmers and shows us hoe they lived and worked 100 years ago. The roofed outdoor area shows the woodwork in the forest. The museum is open from April to October (subject to change).
No entrance fee, open all year round.
Entrance to the nature park: Area Kellerwiese B44 opposite P&R; Nature Park Centre via Hyrtlg./R.Hanke G.
