Perchtoldsdorf train station

Train station

Description

The unmanned station Perchtoldsdorf offers with covered seating, ticket machines and a Park & Ride facility for over 60 cars and more than 50 bicycles an appealing connection point to the trains of the rapid transit lines S2, S3 and S4. Not far from the stop, which is located along the Südbahn line from Vienna to Wiener Neustadt, there is also a bus stop serving several bus lines.

Perchtoldsdorf Castle

In less than half an hour's walk you will find one of the most popular event locations just outside Vienna: Perchtoldsdorf Castle. From garden exhibitions to concerts to wedding fairs - no matter what theme is held in the castle - the magnificent ambience and the atmospheric backdrop guarantee an inviting setting for every event. The surrounding wine taverns offer regional wines and seasonal delicacies.

Winegrowing

The classical viticulture, which is practiced in Perchtoldsdorf by small and medium-sized winegrowing enterprises, still takes place according to traditional methods. A special role in this respect is attributed to the oak wine barrels for maturing, which have been used since 1990. Due to the loess present in the Perchtoldsdorf soil, the wines that are characteristic of the region develop particularly well and distinguish the numerous Heurigen businesses in the area.

History

Originally, the stop on the southern railway line in Perchtoldsdorf was opened in 1841 at a different location, far outside the town centre. After the construction of the Kaltenleutgebener railway in 1883, however, closed again. It was not until after the Second World War that the station used today was built.

Tip: Directly at the station is a nextbike rental station. The bikes are available in Lower Austria from April to mid-November. You can find more information on the website https://www.nextbike.at/en/niederoesterreich/, or in the nextbike app.
