Sollenau

Sollenau is a market town in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land, through which the Piesting River and the Wiener Neustadt Canal flow. In pre-Christian times, the territory belonged to the Celtic kingdom of Noricum – and thus to the area surrounding the Celtic hilltop settlement fortress in Schwarzenbach. The first documented mention of Sollenau occurred in 1166. Today the town is a family-friendly excursion destination.

Tip: A parish museum was created in St. Laurentius Church following extensive renovations in 2007.

Gourmet cycling through Sollenau

Follow the Piesting Valley cycle route for a picturesque tour through the Valley of Poets (Ferdinand Raimund) and Musicians (Johannes Brahms). It takes a good six hours to pedal from Sollenau to Gutenstein. Historical pavilions along the way provide insights into the Biedermeier period.
